An itemised quote is a written estimate that lists each part of the price separately, rather than rolling everything into one figure. For treatment that means the consultation, tests and scans, the procedure itself, the surgeon and anaesthetist fees, the implant or materials, the hospital or clinic stay, medication, and any follow up appointments, each shown as its own line with its own price.
It should also state the currency, the date, how long the quote is valid, and, just as importantly, what is not included. A quote that says only a total tells you nothing about where that number comes from or what happens when an extra is added later.
Think of it as the difference between a menu price and a full bill. The total may look the same at first glance, but only the itemised version lets you see a missing item, question a charge, or compare two clinics fairly, because you are comparing like with like rather than two headline numbers built on different assumptions.

When you compare treatment in another country, an itemised quote is your main defence against a price that grows after you arrive. Headline figures abroad often leave out consultations, tests, anaesthesia, the hospital stay, medication, follow up, and the cost of treating any complication. Each of those is a line that should appear on a proper quote, so you can see the real total before you commit.
Ask for the quote in writing, in a stated currency, with a date and a validity period, and ask directly what is excluded and what a likely complication would add. If a clinic will only give a single number, or resists putting the breakdown in writing, treat that as a reason to slow down. A clear itemised quote is a sign of a clinic that expects to be checked, which is exactly the kind you want.
